What is a DPO

A data protection officer (DPO) is a formal role under UK GDPR law, overseeing an organisation’s data protection strategy and ensuring ongoing compliance with UK data protection laws. Appointing an outsourced data protection officer gives you that expertise without the cost of a full-time hire.

Checklist

Key Responsibilities

  • Acting as a main point of contact with the regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Officer (ICO) as your data protection officer
  • Advising on data protection obligations and best practice
  • Monitoring internal compliance and conducting audits
  • Supporting with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
  • Handling Data Subject Access Requests
  • Promoting a culture of data protection compliance

Calendar & Clock

What's Included in Your Monthly Hours

Whether your on our Essentials, Pro or Premium plan, your monthly hours give you access to clear, practical support from a dedicated data protection officer when you need it most.

The hours can be used for:

  • Answering GDPR and data protection questions
  • Reviewing documents (privacy notices, DPIAs, contracts and DSARs)
  • Tailoring consent wording or DSRs
  • Providing written guidance or templates
  • Attending internal meetings or external supplier calls
  • Helping you prepare for audits or respond to the ICO.

We will always let you know before a task goes beyond your monthly hours. We record hours used and provide monthly statements so you can see how your support time is being used as part of our outsourced DPO services.

Need Additional Hours?

If your request falls outside the scope of your plan or exceeds your available hours, we’ll always let you know in advance. Additional hours can be purchased at a discounted rate as part of your ongoing agreement, or quoted separately.

Do Hours Roll Over?

To keep support predictable and fair for all clients, unused hours do not usually roll over month to month. However, if you’re approaching your limit regularly, we’re happy to discuss adjusting your plan.
